[texte imprimé]International displaced people : a global survey Global IDP Survey, NRC (Conseil norvégien pour les réfugiés) - LONDRES (ROYAUME UNI) : EARTHSCAN, 1998, 240 P.
"Internally displaced people : a global survey" is a unique examination of the world's most acute humanitarian crises : the plicht of over 23 million internally displaced people (IDPs) who are refugees within their own countries, forced to leave their homes because of military conflict, ethnic persecution, or other human rights violations. High-profile crises in Bosnia, Sudan and Central Africa have caught the attention of the world's media, but the vast majority of IDPs continue to survive, often in appalling conditions, with little security or legal protection from national or supra-national bodies. The lack of reliable information about them has contributed to their status as one of the most disadvantaged groups in the world today. This independant survey collates the most comprehensive and up-to-date information available about IDPs, presenting facts, figures and trends for ober 50 countries on 5 continents, and drawing on the expertise of over 30 academics and development workers on forced migration analyse and discuss relevant concerns such as the rights of IDPs and the responsabilities of the international community towards them. Making full use of photographs, maps, figures and tables to present the information in an accessible style, this is an essential reference for those involved in humanitarian, aid and development work, as well as researchers and students working in the fields of development, politics and international relations. It contains an extensive bibliography, one of the first to be compiled in this area". (Résumé de l'éditeur).
